I have installed the program on Centos 6 & 7 with success and it starts and runs properly. However with Linux Mint Debian (LMDE) the manual scans work but the on-access scanner will not start:
1) Message after the install:
Installation completed.
Unable to start savd
On-access scanning not available because it was not possible to start Sophos Anti-Virus.
2) /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdstatus
Sophos Anti-Virus is inactive
3) /opt/sophos-av/bin/savdctl enable
Failed to enable on-access scanning.
4) /etc/init.d/sav-protect start
Failed to get D-Bus connection: Unknown error -1
5) service sav-protect start
Failed to get D-Bus connection: Unknown error -1
I see this message in the logs:
NOTE: You are running Sophos Anti-Virus on a kernel for which Sophos does not provide binary kernel modules. Therefore the kernel modules have been locally compiled. Please see KBA14377 for supported platforms and kernels.
So, I gather that the kernel and/or OS are not compatible? If so, any plans for support them in the future?
This is the kernel that is running:
Linux version 3.16.0-4-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.8.4 (Debian 4.8.4-1) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt9-3~deb8u1 (2015-04-24)
And the Linux OS is:
Linux Mint Debian Version 2 (LMDE 2 Betsy)
Any help would be appreciated.
