Real-time protection shows disabled in Sophos Cloud.

On 10-15-2015 there was a large Client update for Sophos and caused a DDoS on our network and shut everything down. I have 15 computers that say real-time protection is disabled in Sophos Cloud even after I completely uninstall/reinstall Sophos.

Does anyone have any ideas I can try?

  • what happens if you run:
    C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Cache\decoded\savxp\VCRedist\vcredist_x86.exe

    possibly:
    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

    • Hi,

Are all of the Sophos Services running on these computers? If not, can they be started? Can you launch SAVMain.exe from the program files directory?

      Regards,
      Jak
      • When I try to start any of the Sophos Services that aren't running I get the following error:

"Windows could not start the Sophos Anti-Virus service on 10.5.30.35.
Error 0x800736b1: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

When I try to open the main Sophos program it never starts.
I can uninstall Sophos without Authenticating and disabling tamper protection.
