Sophia not running

I'm on Yosemite 10.10.3, running Sophos for Mac 9.2.4 which shows as up to date in Sophos. Yet, this morning I got a message saying Sophos is not running. The S in the shield is grayed out, and nothing I've tried has worked. In looking this problem up it seems to have been one from an earlier version and fixed. Any advice as to what to do will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

I'd suggest:

Check under Preferences and see if you can toggle the scanner off and on.

Try to reload the kernel extension. From Terminal type: sudo kextload -b com.sophos.kext.sav

Shutdown and restart the computer.

Uninstall, reboot, reinstall.

Hello,
second time in 2 weeks my Sophos is not running
i had to uninstall and download again
but today i tried to download again and i have an unexpected error on the website of Sophos; i have tried several times but it does not work anymore
does anyone know if you use free version home edition and you try to download more than once.....if the system refuses?
do i have to pay from now on?
or is it just a technical problem on the website?

The software is free how ever many times you download it. Just checked and it works fine for me.

It's most likely that your browser has cached the page and something in the cache is conflicting with the live page. Clear your cache or maybe just try downloading the software again in a private browsing window.

Likewise, my Sophos stopped working and the solution above seemed to work and the new savout.log was very different from the one that was broken.
