An elderly neighbor asked for assistance transferring files to a new laptop and is concerned, rightly, about possible malware on the source Windows 7 PC.
Sophos once provided a free executable to allow scanning of a PC without a full install. That appears to have been replaced by a free version of Sophos Home.
Is that correct? If so, I see Windows 7 is no longer supported, for updates, but it is unclear if it will install at all on Windows 7 or 8.x.
Can someone assist me with this? I would like to scan before starting to copy any files.
