Interesting article

I was looking for some information about sophos enpoint vs Symantec endpoint since im currently looking to shift away our users from Symantec to different product, i found this article:

http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/news/2240039273/Sophos-software-design-implementation-critically-flawed-says-researcher?asrc=EM_NLN_14587207&track=NL-102&ad=843744HOUSE&

which made me think again about sophos endpoint, how sophos is addressing the issues mentioned in this article?

Thanks, Best regards,

  • I would have to say, that I registered to many security developer forums and searched for many analysis to get decided on what solution I will go with, but at the end the most thing which made me decide is that our sister company in the UK being using the Sophos for few years and they are quite happy about it.

I used Eset for 5 years but after version 3 they become concentrating on adding features instead of improving their detection system which become by time just a service running which dont detect many of the malwares and trojan, so I looked hard for another solution last year and then decided to go with Symantec endpoint (which was a big mistake) I didnt see anything like this software, nitemare in implementation, their console full of features which don't work. system detection is bad; for example we use pop3 for mails. and when someone send email to more than 10 users at the time, endpoint block the connection becouse it cannot scan temp file since it is locked, the support suggestion is to disable outlook protection!!.

So I decided to look again and then I discussed Sophos with my college in UK and after reading the on the net, i decided to give it a try, and here we are, we have some problems with it but the support are great and very helpful.

By the way after i installed Sophos endpoing with the firewall and data control, my computer performance increased 2 times atleast compare to when it was running symantec endpoint 11.0.7. so it is better to try it out before you decide, not all the environments the same, so maybe the last performance test above wont be same for you.

    Best regards.
