call sophos antivirus from java

The most suitable way for you to interface with Sophos is to use SAVDI:

When you install SAV or any other AV product, there is typically a command line scanner installed (e.g. sweep, sav32cli.exe) that you can call to scan a file and get the return code but this is slow due to a process being created, having to load the virus data performing the scan each time.  This approach doesn't really scale. 

The idea behind SAVDI is that you have a service that loads the data and you can makes calls into it to scan files.

thanks for your response Jak, but i think i must acquire a licence to use savdi. so i think i 'll go for calling the command to scan files from my java code.
