Up next is Rutvik Chavda, Digital Support Engineer L1-1 and Sophos Staff Contributor. 

Let's Talk Career

1. Can you tell us about your role at Sophos? 
My role as a Digital Chat Support L1 Engineer entails providing technical support and troubleshooting for endpoint security solutions. This includes assisting customers with any issues related to endpoint protection, such as detecting and resolving malware, ensuring the deployment of security patches, and configuring and managing the endpoint security software. 

2. How did you get to the role you're in now? 
I started my career at Sophos in January 2023 as an intern under the Technical Support group and joined the organization full-time in October 2023 under the Digital Chat Support team.  

3. What inspired you to get into IT and security? 
My Interest in IT and security started when I was in school. I remember spending hours learning about different kinds of malware and how hackers exploit software vulnerabilities. Over time, this curiosity turned into a passion for cybersecurity, especially as I learned about the real-world consequences of data breaches and cyberattacks. 
 
As I gained more knowledge through my studies and practical experiences, I realized that IT security was a perfect fit for my skills and interests, and it became clear that I wanted to make a career out of it. 

4. What do you enjoy most about your role? 
What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to solve real-world problems and directly contribute to securing systems for our customers and partners.  
 
Every day presents a new challenge, whether it's troubleshooting, identifying a potential security threat, or helping clients understand how to better protect their endpoints. I find it satisfying to know that my work helps prevent security breaches. 
 
Additionally, I enjoy the role's continuous learning aspect. The field of cybersecurity is constantly evolving with new threats and technologies, and I’m inspired to stay up to date on the latest developments. Working with my team and learning from more experienced engineers also allows me to grow my skills and expertise, which is something I truly value. 

5. What's something you've done during your time in the organization that you're proud of? 
Being part of the Sophos Team 10 in FY25 for Q1 and Q2. I couldn’t have achieved this without my team – their dedication and guidance helped me throughout. It is an honor to be recognized for my hard work. 

6. Describe a typical day in your Sophos life. 
As an ESG Digital Chat Engineer, my typical day revolves around providing real-time technical support to customers and partners via live chat. 

As I work remotely, I like to stay involved and socially active by interacting with colleagues and talking about both work and non-work-related topics.  

7. What's the best advice you can give to someone who has just started their career? 
Always remain curious and never stop learning.  
 
The technology landscape, particularly in cybersecurity, evolves quickly.  It’s essential to stay updated on the latest tools, techniques, and threats. Take the time to explore different areas within your field and find what excites you the most. 

8. What would you do (for a career) if you weren't doing this? 
I would pursue a professional gamer career. I’ve always been passionate about gaming. 

Role in the Sophos Community 

9. What's a fun fact about you that you could share with the Community? 
I enjoy solving puzzles and collaborating with friends to beat the clock and escape within the time limit. It’s a fun way to spend time together and helps me hone my problem-solving skills and work efficiently under pressure.  

10. Have you posted any Recommended Read guides on the Community? 
I haven’t yet, but hopefully, I will in the future. But you can find me on Sophos Community, answering questions and sharing insights in Endpoint forums.  

Who is Rutvik outside of work? 

11. What are your hobbies outside of work? 
One of my biggest hobbies outside of work is gaming. I love playing a variety of games, from competitive shooters to immersive role-playing games.  
 
Gaming not only allows me to unwind but also sharpens my strategic thinking, teamwork, and quick decision-making skills.  
 
12. What’s something you’re planning on doing in the next year that you’ve never done? 
I plan to participate in a gaming tournament in the next year. I think it’ll be an exciting challenge to take my passion for gaming to a competitive event.  

It’s a great opportunity for me to push my skills further, meet new people in the gaming community, and experience the intensity of professional competition.  

13. What's one thing you're really good at? 
I’m really good at picking up new games quickly and mastering them, especially when it comes to strategy and gameplay mechanics.  

14. If you could learn how to do anything, what would it be? 
I’d love to learn how to build a custom liquid-cooled PC. I’ve always been fascinated by the process of designing and assembling a high-performance system, and the challenge of creating an efficient and visually stunning setup really excites me!  

15. Tell us about where you live (and your journey getting there - if applicable). 
My journey, living in Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat, has been an exciting one.  

I moved here for its vibrant atmosphere, modern infrastructure, and proximity to Gujarat's growing tech industry. The city is known for its well-planned layout, greenery, and peaceful environment, making it an ideal place to live and work.  
 
It’s also close to Ahmedabad, which gives me access to a wide range of professional opportunities while still allowing me to enjoy a quieter, more relaxed lifestyle. 

16. What's your favorite thing about where you live? 
My favorite thing about living in Gandhinagar is its peaceful environment, lush greenery, and perfect balance between modern amenities and nature.  

17. Tell us something that might surprise us about you. 
I love building custom PCs, experimenting with different setups, and overclocking them to push their performance to the limit!  

18. Any favorite line from a movie? 
“There is no spoon.” —The Matrix  
 
It’s a simple yet powerful reminder that our limitations are often just in our minds, and we can break through barriers with the right perspective.  

19. If you had a superpower, what would it be? 
I would choose the ability to manipulate time—specifically, the power to pause, rewind, and fast-forward moments.  
 
This would allow me to revisit past experiences, optimize my decisions in real time, and look ahead to see the consequences of my actions, giving me an edge in both personal and professional growth.
