Performance Problems with our RED15

Hello all,

I am Mike and glad to be here to get some help from professionals.

We have 2 SG210 in HA cluster here at our HQ in Germany and one RED15 in our small office in Italy. I configured the RED and now we have the problem that we have no speed between the two sites. I configured the RED as Standard / Unified and the speed was less than 1M. Now I switched to Standard/Split so that the users in Italy have a fast internet connection at least (20M). But the speed between the sites is still that bad.

Internal Network:

172.16.20.0/24

255.255.255.0

Red Network:

172.16.23.0/24

255.255.255.0

Masquerading Rule:

RED15 -> External (WAN)

Maybe you can help to figure the problem out. I will give you all the settings you will asking for :)

Thanks and regards

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

how exactly did you measure the speed? Did you do a download from the Internet or an internal transmission?

Also, do you have some Linux boxes behind the RED and UTM? In this case maybe you could try a test with iperf to see which values you get there. It might also be worth a shot to reduce MTU sizes for server and client to something like 1100 (just as a test).

    Kind regards

    Joney

  • Thanks for your help Bob, I will go thru the points.

Thanks for your help also :) I measured it with files download from the internet and with copying from site to site. We have no Linux devices. Is there something to change at the UTM for the MTU sizes? Where can I find it?

    Cheers

  • Change the MTU in the 'Advanced' section of 'Edit Interface'.  I'd be tempted to try this on the reds interface.

  • Actually, I was thinking rather about changing the MTU sizes on the end devices (i.e., client and servers).
