UTM 9 freezes after 1-3 min after startup.

I am trying to configure and run Sophos UTM Home edition. I had it installed on this a few months ago and then it sat, I decided to try and set this up and pulled it out, set it up and updated the software. After everything was up to date I started having stability issues.

The computer (ASRock uBOX-111 Intel N2930 Fanless Dual Intel LAN Industrial Mini Barebone PC) I am trying to run UTM 9 on runs for about 1-3 min and the video goes funky and the unit will freeze. I have a new 8GB DDR3L memory chip in that passes all memcheck64+ tests, as well as a 2GB chip that has the same results.  This even happens with both lan ports disconnected and without any activity on the box.

I have also submitted an issue to ASRock as this could be a hardware issue, however they have been less than helpful thus far.

I am trying to get the version but I am unable to log in before it locks up.

  • Hi, Jason, and welcome to the UTM Community!

Hardware problem.  It would be interesting to hook it up and see if it's really running - if it's just that the on-board display adapter died.

    Cheers - Bob

  • Hi,

While playing with it last night I found that it reboots shortly after the video dies and so its in a giant reboot cycle.  I am fairly sure this is hardware as well because the same thing happens when booting on a tails usb drive (discovered even later last night).

    Thanks,

    Jason
