OK, setting up a new install with 2 x SG230 Appliances.
I have a 4 server web app that's been load balanced with ISA server for years with no issues. ISA server however allows you to put in proper health checks on the server farm, i.e. check for a string on a page. WAF doesn't allow this and only does a port scan. No use if there's a logical failure on the server.
However, with a bit of testing, the standard Server Load Balancing under Network Protection does appear to work correctly, i.e. if you choose an HTTP server healthcheck and the page you specify returns a '500' etc, it'll pull it out from the pool.
WAF obviously has the benefit that the server itself isn't exposed to the internet, but the load balancing is a bit Mickey Mouse.
Question is: Can you point a WAF 'virtual server' at an IP that's just the Server Load Balancing virtual IP ?
i.e. Internet User -> WAF -> single IP -> Server Load Balancing -> Webfarm?
Thanks in advance... I wish the healthcheck feature in WAF was just a bit more advanced! :-(
