Mini PCIE slot use on XG 125 rev.3

Hello everybody,

I would need more details regarding the mini pcie port present next to the M.2 port in the Sophos XG 125 (rev.3).

The port is identical to the MSATA format but it is in the PCIE format therefore not compatible with the BUS level (except for the format).
From what I have read, it could be used for mini cards. But no documentation on the Sophos site allowed me to see the real products and technologies supported by this port.

As long as I do, I would also like to know what the "foxconn" port can be used for on the motherboard, behind a trap that can be unscrewed with two screws.

On the XG 135 this would serve as a Wi-FI module but on the XG125 apparently it is not compatible.

I would be grateful to have a clear answer :)

Cordially.

  • Hello Sniper,

Thank you for contacting the Sophos Community.

The XG 125 uses the 3G/4G module instead of the Wifi Module.

  • Thank you very much for your clear answer, it took me 15 exchanges on the Sophos Twitter account to finally not get a clear answer.

Suddenly I take advantage of it, I also have an "extension bay" at the back in the form of a hatch screwable with 2 screws.

Is it only used for modules for adding network interfaces? And lastly, my domestic use the exhaust fan is too audible for my taste. These dimensions are 40x40x25 (50db) it seems to me to connect via 4 pin. Can you put a simple Noctua (12db) 40x40x10 4 pin in it, I know the voltage issue will arise.

And if you had a proposal to make this modification in order to switch to a quieter fan. Regards,
