I understand what you want and I fully agree with you. If you want to manage a single standalone XG Firewall v18 it's not a problem, through the classic WebAdmin interface, why not.
However, if you are faced with the problem of managing multiple installations for individual customers or groups of customer installations, then the ability to manage only through cloud solutions and Central Firewall Manager it is a nightmare.
Sophos Central (as a management console) is not a security-certified security solution. I don't think anybody in Sophos even dealt with this problem.
They just decided ....

Thanks for sharing the snapshot. Based on snapshot it seems issue getting matched with recent known issue which we observed.
NCCC-9913 : Template forward compatibility is with 'Not applicable' for older version of SF 17.5 after releasing SF 17.5 MR10
As of now GES is working with Dev team and will keep you posted with further progress on same.
