SMC App Sync

Hello!

Our company iPhones are reported to us by the system if they don't synchronize with the server since 4 weeks.

We can't ask every user to start the SMC app once a month and then trigger the sync manually.
The SMC app can trigger this automatically, but the background update must be activated and the App must be opened in the taskswitcher.

Is there a way to start the SMC app automatically in the background?
If a user restarts his mobile phone, the SMC app is closed and they can no longer synchronize itself. Is there a solution for this?

How did you solve the problem?

  • Hi Andreas,

The SMC app is supposed to sync every 24 hours. But indeed, it can happen that the SMC app gets closed on an iOS device and therefore can no longer sync. There is no way to enforce the iOS device to keep it running under very circumstances. But fortunately, iOS has a built-in MDM client which synchronizes every 24 hours with its configured MDM solution which is, in this case, Sophos Mobile. This way we can ensure that iOS devices stay in sync.
