iOS profile installation failed

Hi

I have a new install of SCM 3.0.8.

Just trying to get my head around the various deployment option. I have nailed the Android and Windows rollout but I am struggling with the iOS SSP registration bit.

I have my APN installed and have created a task bundle to deploy the bootstrap and a basic profile with password settings and ActiveSync configuration.

Upon registering through the SSP I get prompted to install the MDM profile and after entering the device password I just get Profile Installation Failed.

The Task View in the console shows that the bootstrap completed but the profile was 'not started'.

Any suggestions?

Gordon

  • Hi Gordon,

if ínstalling of the bootstrap (MDM enrollment profile) already fails it typically indicates that the certificate used for the SMC server is not fully trusted by the iOS browser.
To verify this, you could simply browse the SMC website from the mobile device which has issues installing the profile.

If a certificate warning appears when browsing the SMC site it indicates that the browser does not trust the certificate.

As the websites certificate is part of the bootstrap / enrollment profile this then won't install as it is not trusted and you might need a different certificate.

You can also have a look at the iPhone log via the iPhone Configuration Utility and check what the error is when the installation fails. You can find a description how to create an iOS-Log in our here.

Please note that this is only an assumption based on the problem description you gave.
To be on the safe side you could also open a support ticket with our support for analyzis.
