Question - Sophos Mobile Control

Hi all,

I have some questions about the Sophos Mobile Control and would be pleased if you could help me.

I looked trough feature matrix of this product and find some interesting functions/options for managing iOS and Android devices.

"Devices - Installation and configuration of applications"

Installing applications (with or without user interaction): iOS [X] | Android [X]

Uninstalling applications (with or withou user interaction): Android [X]

List of all installed applications can be displayed: iOS [X] | Android [X]

Now I have some questions, because my level of knowledge is, that every of these functions is not applicable for iOS and Android devices without "jailbreaking" iOS or "rooting" Android devices.

Maybe anyone has some ideas / answers how these can work?

Best regards

  • Hello BR,

SMC does not "force" something on any of these devices. You start by self-registering the device with the server which then send the necessary component(s) to the device. At this step you have to confirm the changes and/or give the app the necessary permissions. Again - it requires confirmation on the device by the device owner. But from then on the device can be administered remotely.

You've probably seen the general information about SMC but there's are also detailed documentation available here (expand User manuals and help - scroll down to the Sophos Mobile Control .... documents). These will probably answer more questions than you have now :smileyvery-happy:.
