Sophos repeatedly asks to remain active in background

I am using Sophos Mobile Security on an Android phone running Oreo. At irregular intervals it asks two questions about allowing it to remain active in the background, titled "permanent protection". The problem is it asks these questions repeatedly, sometimes (but not always) when the phone reboots, and sometimes (but not always) when the phone wakes. Is there any way to not have to answer these questions repeatedly?

Thanks,

Mark Brodie

  • I have had similar problems on my p20 pro running Oreo and seema to be these new fancy power management systems. What they'll do is if an app is not foreground context for a period of time or is pushed back further in the list by other apps then Oreo will automatically force stop the app for performance and battery.

To fix this i had to do the following (may differ on your os) :

    Open settings

    Apps and notifications

    Apps

    Find app

(app would have had to have been run recently to see this next bit)

    Battery

There should be a bit about app launch which i had to set to manage automatically to no then manually set the app to launch on startup and run in background to enabled.

That seems to have fixed many of my "app disappearance" anomalies.

    Maybe that will help?
