Sophos Anti-Virus version 7: End of life

Hi,

We are currently looking into migrating to another anti-virus solution, could you confrim if the Sophos Anti-Virus software will stop running altogether at the end of March or if it will continue to run but not receive any new definition updates?

Just trying to confrim if we will still have some form of anti-virus protection in place during this migration.

Cheers!

  • Hello Caseh,

May I ask why you want to migrate? Are you dissatisfied with the product or a certain aspect?

As for retirement: The product will continue to work past the retirement date. Just checking the Software lifecycle page it looks like the date for 7.x has been postponed as I see 13 May 2011. Anyway - while some form of protection is better than none at all I recommend against running without current updates. Does your license expire in the next weeks? Otherwise it's probably better to upgrade even if it's only for a few months (and who knows, perhaps you'll fall in love again :smileywink:). If this isn't feasible - in terms of protection you should seriously consider some freeware interim solution instead of running with an outdated product.
