SESC 9 vs other AV products

What are your views of Sophos and SESC9?

It has been a while since I've used any other vendor. I hope to see some responses covering what others feel, like those that just come to Sophos recently as well as those like myself that use Sophos.

Back ground:

We have been using Sophos for over 3 years now and I'm pleased over all with this product. We used to be a Symantec shop and saw enough issues to move on.

Thanks

Here is more information from my 3 years with Sophos:

    Bad:

    False positive:

There was one wide spread false positive over the past three years. It occurred last December 2009 and was automatically resolved without reported harm within 3 hours.

    Performance issue in Windows desktops:

The deployment of Sophos in 2006 had one design short coming which took a few months to learn about. The Sophos update design had endpoints update when a network connection was detected. This caused a performance issue on Window desktops that had limited resources. The result was a slower Windows desktop boot up. This is being addressed now by increasing the number of Sophos update servers from 2 to 4.

    Good:

    Sophos product server upgrades:

There have been three full Sophos product server upgrades and all were resolved using standard Sophos support with no impact to endpoints.

    Endpoint full version upgrades:

There has been one full version upgrade to endpoints over the past 3 years and it was done automatically with no large scale manual action required.

    Monthly Sophos upgrades and patches:

There have been over 22,400 endpoints installed and all monthly patches and upgrades have been smoothly achieved.

    Sophos endpoint protection:

Sophos was deployed with a focus on virus and spyware protection in 2006, over the past 3 years no wide spread attacks appeared across the Enterprise like was seen when Symantec was used. Sophos also provided clean up through its product for most infections reported.
