Outloo 2007 Message

We are deploying Sophos Endpoint to our Win2003 domain.

When Sophos installs on a workstation with Outlook 2007 an Outlook 2007 message pops up telling the user  that the old anti-virus (Symantec) is not accessible and has been disabled by Outlook.

How can I suppress this message?

How can I insure that Outlook is using Sophos to screen email?

  • I had a similiar message appear when Mcafee's Outlook plugin was installed prior to installing Sophos.  Apparently Outlook caches its plugin information in the extend.dat file located under C:\Documents and Settings\%user%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

You can simply delete the extend.dat file and Outlook will recreate/repopulate the file upon launcing Outlook.  Only certain users/images had this problem and not all my users.
