Hi Jonathan, we don't expect Big Sur 11.2 to have any affect on this issue. I assure you however, that we are addressing this in-house and will have a fix for our GA release.
Google Drive Stream automatically upgraded to a new "Google Drive" App. Version 45.0.12. And Big Sur updated to 11.2. After those upgrades, the workaround of disabling "Crypto Guard" didn't work anymore. Google Drive pop up a error message of Trouble syncing:
Try excluding "/Volumes/GoogleDrive" and
"/Users/ curent username /Library/Application Support/Google/DriveFS/ random folder name /content_cache"
Then it hangs Finder and MacOS.
How we can put the exclusion into the Endpoint Security Policy? with variable user names?

Please be on the lookout for v10.0.3, the update is rolling out this week and we'd be keen to know this version addresses the issue you're seeing.
What can we expect for the update? For example with the new big Spur update, we had security/privacy issues on the general tab to allows for Sophos. This was outside the normal of having to add full disk encryption. Thanks.
Hi,
The acknowledgement on the Security/Privacy is something that Apple is enforcing for software that uses system extensions. With this, and future upgrades you may be required to allow the upgraded extensions and possible reboot. OS prompts should guide you, and we have added system pre-requisites to the endpoint self-help tool to assist in fixing common configuration problems.
David, thank you for the update. So far Google Drive has not popped the error I had before. But I want to double check, it is OK to reenable the Runtime Protection ->CryptoGuard? Or it still need be off?
Hi Phillip, I just checked with the dev team and the Google Drive/Cryptoguard issue may still occur in 10.0.3, a further fix has been applied for the GA build however. Apologies for the inconvenience
Ok. So I will keep the policy of disable CryptoGuard. Thank you for the prompt response.
hi David, it seems 10.0.3 with cryptoguard disabled, the new 10.0.3 is causing some of the spinning circles to appear on our devices.
so confirming that the kernel_task and Sophos spike and freeze applications intermittently. I switched from using an app to something as simple as google chat and it gave me the spinning circle.
