I can't uninstall Sophos 9.5.2 using the Remove Sophos Anti-virus. I get a message saying, "The removal failed. The software was not successfully removed."

I have a Macbook Pro running El Capitan (OS 10.11.6) with Sophos 9.5.2. I can't successfully update Sophos. I keep getting a message, "Could not contact primary server. URL Error: 18 January 2017 22:48. Now I'm trying to uninstall Sophos 9.5.2 so I can reinstall a newer, perhaps uncorrupted version. This is a ridiculous conundrum that is unacceptable. Please help get me out of this maze.

Amazing that nobody has responded to this in two years. I have the same issue.

Hello Owen,

If you are encountering the same issue, you may run the command >"mdfind sophos" and remove all the entries manually. Please follow this KBA to run the script.

That was the second thing I did, after doing a cmd-F search, which is always problematic.
