El Capitan and Sophos AV for Mac 9.4.0

Hi there,

I just upgraded my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) to El Capitan, and tried to run Sophos AV 9.4.0. It updates fine, and the scan begins fine, but it gets stuck and won't move; it's not showing in the OS as 'not responding', but it's been stuck on the same file for about three hours.

Given all the problems El Capitan is causing, is this just one more of them?

Thanks in advance, Adrian

  • Hi Adrian,

It's hard to say without a bit more info. Have you tried killing the SAV process and letting it automatically respawn? Does it keep getting stuck?

If yes, I would check the SAV logs, and maybe post the contents here. If it keeps failing in the same place, it could be an issue with El Capitain.

  • Hi there, sorry for not replying sooner, the problem seems to have sorted itself out. I do notice that the scans are taking a long time now, and the scan windows tends to say '0 files remaining' whilst continuing to scan .dmg files. I think I may just delete these old installer packages, as I don't need them. Thanks for answering, though.
  • Hi Adrian,

Ok, glad to hear things are working better now. Let us know if you have any other issues!

    Thanks,

  • Since i updated to El Capitan , when I start my mac mini (just a couple of months old, the disk is not full) I get the message "Sophos Anti Virus is not running" When I try to open Sophos it crashes and I have to do a force quit , uninstall and reinstall. This lasts till the next time I start up the computer.
  • Hey R Adalois,

What do the logs say? I posted a video earlier in this thread that will show you how to find them.

    Thanks,
    Serra
