Sophos 9.4 hanging on every scan

I am running free Home Edition of Sophos 9.4.1 on my Mac running OS 10.10.5 (Yosemite) Every scan (all files and folders) that I run just gets caught in a continuous loop it seems. I've tried allowing it to run overnight for 8 hours. It begins scanning and successfully scans for a while and then (though the toolbar icon shows Sophos is still moving/working), the Sophos scan window shows the number of remaining files never reduces.
What can I do?

What is Sophos trying to do to fix the issue? Surely, an effort would be being made to recreate the problem.

The AV works fine on my Mac mini but hangs on my iMac. A key difference between the computers is that the iMac has a Fusion drive, whereas the Mac mini doesn't.

Yesterday I let it do a whole scan without stopping it and after 14 hours it was still not complete.

I'm having the same problem on my Mac mini running El Capitan with Sophos Home 1.1.0 beta, which I just installed yesterday. The scan locks up the entire computer about halfway through the scan, requiring a hard reboot. The logs give no information about the scan results other than what volumes were detected.

I'm quite frankly disappointed at both the responsiveness to this issue and the offered solutions. It's been over two months with people reporting issues and there has yet to be a concrete suggestion from anyone on how to fix it. Every time a piece of information is offered in response to a request for details, it is met with silence until someone gets back on here after a week to complain about it. This is not a piece of frivolous software either; this is meant to find and fix critical vulnerabilities. What do we have to say to be taken seriously?

I have the same problem. I've got it to work on the MacMini 2015, but since upgrading to El Capitan, the MacBookPro 2011 just hangs about 1/3rd the way through. Left it there for 2 days this time. I have to go into Sophos, uncheck everything and reboot to make it stop. Any suggestions?

Same here. Fine on one computer, but not the older laptop, though both are upgraded and running El Capitan. I left it for two days this last time. Stops at 4.3M files. No name, nothing, yet Logo in toolbar keeps spinning. Have to reboot to stop.

What's up? Any movement on a fix? Thanks :-)
