  • Hi Azwan,

a wrong or missing OS Version could be displayed in the SafeGuard MC if a Client OS version that is not supported, is reported (e.g. a Windows 10 Client in a SGN 7 MC).

The Drive Inventory for SafeGuard Enterprise Clients in the Management Center lists certain drives as 'Fixed', although the drive is not an internal storage media but a removable media connected via USB port and should therefore be listed as 'Removable'.
With the changes of SafeGuard Enterprise 7.00.1 Service Release, the drive type will no longer be determined by a Windows function but from the SafeGuard Device Encryption Filter Driver directly and reports the correct information to the SafeGuard Database.

    Hope that helps

    M.

  • Hi Michael,

Noted and apprciated the info share on the new Safeguard 7 version, however for my case agent and MC is using Safeguard 6 version and few case encounter as below.

    Scenario/ Issue:

-Agent didn't show machine OS even though agent was successfully synchronize with  server (MC).

-MC showing agent have multiple fixed drive which physically check at user machine those drive not available or detect by OS (might be related with your explanation)

Any KB i can refer or user forum which encounter same issue with solution?. Thanks

  • Hi Azwan,

    Scenario/ Issue:

-Agent didn't show machine OS even though agent was successfully synchronize with  server (MC).

I actually haven´t seen issues so far were the inventory was reported and the OS info was missing (assuming a supported OS was used).

What occasionally occurs is, that a client reports a different Domain Netbios Name as the synchronized AD. In this case the client (and its inventory) can be found in the "autoregistered" node of the root.

-MC showing agent have multiple fixed drive which physically check at user machine those drive not available or detect by OS (might be related with your explanation)

The inventory of the drives is not dynamically updated. When a drive has been attached when the inventory was reported to the server, it will stay there even if the drive is removed from the client at a later point in time.

The improved handling regarding fixed/removable drives that I mentioned earlier, is described in the following KBA:

SafeGuard Enterprise 7.0 release notes: New in Service Release SGN 7.0.1

    Hope that helps
