The editor doesn't have a code formatting button and I agree this is needed for our community. In the next major release there is a new and much improved editor with the needed formatting. Example:
Until that is released (no ETA yet), you can format the font as Courier from the rich text editor, or dip into the HTML and put the tags <code> </code> or <pre> </pre> round the text.
