The Astaro AP30 Access Point supports WLAN N, 300Mbit/s. It also has a smoke-detector housing, which should be very discrete. And the POE is a nice add-on also, so I don't have a power-outlet hassle.
Now, if I look to the specs, I see this thing only has a 100Mbit/s lan connection. Now Astaro: How do you get 300Mbit/s over 100BASE-T? I simply don't see a way how that would be possible. And nowadays, is 100BASE-T not a bit outdated? I think a 1000BASE-T hardware upgrade should be very appreciated. In addition, POE should be upgraded to 802.3at as well.
And then the last question. What about just putting a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in it? Since this thing is coupled to the internet, you can do great things, like: Immediately send an warning mail/chat/sms to the owner of the house/building, call the fire department.
What about this idea? By the way, is there a POE-injector that you let the original product adapter as a power-source?
