Suddenly: Authentication Failure with STAS

Hi,

Customer was running with STAS successfully for a long time, and Web Filtering was set to block access on authentication failure.

Under STAS in the UTM are a lot of online users, as supposed to be :-)

But they keep getting "Authentication failed" splash screen in their browsers.

The UTM authentication log, shows users athentication and no failed or error entries.

But web filtering shows a lot of theese:

2018:01:26-09:43:53 fw01-1 httpproxy[28513]: id="0003" severity="info" sys="SecureWeb" sub="http" request="0xdaa00c00" function="send_response_headers" file="response.c" line="908" message="epoll_write failed"

When I remove the  "block access on authentication failure" checkmark from web filtering, users can access the web of course, but the epol-errors disappear!

UTM is 9.506-4 as of now, but they where running 9.504 before, and also had the error there.

Any idea if this was due to a firmware upgrade from before 9.504, as I did not manage the solution then.

The STAS agents on the DC's also work great.

I have rebooted the UTM, but nothing helps.

FYI: Support ticket is also created :-)

  • Hi,

    Restart httpproxy by executing this command in the shell.

    /var/mdw/scripts/httpproxy restart

    Also, clear the Web Cache from Web Protection | Filtering options | MISC | Web Caching

    Let us know if that helps.

  • <M> fw01:/home/login # /var/mdw/scripts/httpproxy restart
    :: Restarting httpproxy
    :: Stopping httpproxy done
    :: Starting httpproxy done
    <M> fw01:/home/login #

    Webcache cleared also although it was never enabled.

    But still:

    While trying to retrieve the URL:
    Authentication Failed

    Any other suggestions?
