Windows updates blocked

Hi:

I've been running Sophos UTM for almost 2 years and have had little trouble with it. After moving into a new house and starting from the beginning, I've encountered many troubles with Web Filtering. The biggest of these is I'm unable to receive Windows updates unless Web Filtering is turned off. Yet when I review the logs, there's no indication anything is being blocked. What is going on?

Hi Roodawakeing,

Check out the following link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/bb693717.aspx .

Add the suggested URLS in the transparent skip list for destination. This should resolve the issue.

All I see is Downloading Updates 0% on the Microsoft Update status page. When I review the Web Proxy logs it shows traffic is allowed.

I have no statuscode=5 in my logs.

It's definitely tied to the Web Proxy settings because the second I turn that off, the file starts downloading.

This is frustrating beyond belief. I mean, really?? Windows Updates? That's the most basic of needs and Sophos is blocking it.

Hi,

Please verify in Web protection > filtering options first tab exceptions that you have Microsoft windows update exception rule and that it is switched on. All works here perfect for me and any station.

(running latest version)

Do you mean there are no log lines that contain statuscode="502" for example?

Do you mean there are no log lines that contain statuscode="502" for example?
