How to block specific user agent

Hi, afaik that is not implemented, but you can request it be added to Web Protection or to Application Control.

Does anyone have any idea how to block on UTM group of Hosts with XP OS or Internet Explorer. It does not have to be something officialy supported from Sophos. It can be some magic rule for iptbales or something else.

I would put all the XP machines in a their own Network, or at least use DHCP reservations to put them into a certain network range, so you can create a Network Definition and apply it to the proxy rules.

Blocking no, but after the fact you can inspect the logs to find them, it is logged as ua=

grep [IE8 User agent sting] /var/log/http.log

Then scrip= and user= to determine who they are.  Then walk over to their machines and update them.

As for shutting down XP or IE8...  I would be tempted to look more at Active Directory and Domain tools.

i you still have the requirement to block some user agents, you could do the following...

add a web policy filter where user have to authenticate to browse the internet. block requests when authentication failed.

then add an exeption for authentication for dedicated user agents.

so you can block deidcated user agents.
