Remote Access VPN

We have implemented RED devices on a couple of branch offices .

Users of those offices need to access some servers from outside , previously they opened a VPN connection directly to the branch office ,

Is this still possible with RED or do they have to connect to the UTM central firewall and be routed to the server on their branch offices ?

thanks

  • Hi Stefano,

You can communicate with the server on another RED network when the two end RED networks are connected together. In this case, you need to route the traffic through UTM.

    Thanks

    My question was different

I meant if the RED device can act as END POINT for remote access VPN or if the users have to connect to the UTM Central firewall in VPN and then being routed to the RED Network of the branch office

    Thanks

  • Hi Stefano,

RED devices cannot act as an endpoint for remote access VPN. Users will need to connect with UTM and the routes can be defined in the UTM configurations.

    Thanks

  • This is one of the reasons I often recommend an SG 105 or 115 with Network Protection instead of a RED.  Don't get me wrong, the RED 15 has its place and is a great bargain for such a powerful tool.
