new RED always generates new unlock code

Hi everyone,

I have an UTM9 and different sites connected via RED10/50 to it. Now the problem is that one of the RED50 has gone offline. My guess it that it's old configuration was faulty.
So since it's offline and not reachable from the UTM, I've prepared a config file for offline installation via USB following this manual.
So when I enter the configuration details, I also enter the old correct unlock code. Problem here is: Once I click 'save', the RED is created on the UTM9 with a completely new unlock code, regardless of what I typed in. So for example if i create the red with the unlock code 'dj3kAi4', once the RED is created, it has the unlock code 'ght4s3j'.
So of course once I insert the USB stick into the RED and boot it up, I get an error message saying 'wrong unlock code'.

What am i doing wrong here?

    thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, I can't reach the RED online, so the online configuration is no option.
    Also, if the RED generates a new unlock code every time I add it to the RED, why does it say "wrong unlock code" if I try to give it a new configuration via USB?

    Hi Simon,

    there are a couple of questions, like how does the RED50 reach the UTM. How did you do the online deployment in the first place without having access. How often did you create a new RED config, online/offline...
    I guess the best/easiest way for you to get this resolved is contact your reseller and a get a case opened with Sophos Support...
