PIM-SM Multicast routing - Can UTM not act as Rendezvous Point?

Dear Community,

I need to set up PIM-SM routing between two subnets connected to UTM. Am I right in thinking that Sophos UTM 9 does not support to be designated to be the Rendezvous Point?

I have entered one of UTM's IPs in the RP-configuration but it does not appear to work - clients cannot successfully subscribe to a multicast group with the sender being in a different subnet.

Is there any way to get this working without having another PIM router in the network?

Regards,

Steve

  • On the RP Routers tab create a new Rendezvous Point Router

set the host to one of the UTM's interface addresses.

Unfortunately this does not make it the rendezvous point, but seems to allow multicast between interface on the UTM

The UTM cannot be rendezvous point
