Cannot log into WebAdmin- no login fields showing in GUI. Also, not reporting to SUM.

SG 310 just updated to the latest version (9.504).  After update, device is not available via SUM, nor are the login fields showing in WebAdmin/Admin portal.  Attached is what I see when going direct to SG.  SSL is turned off so only way to get in is to console (maybe).  SLL VPN is not working either; times out after several tries ['PUSH_REQUEST' (status=1)]  (fails to authenticate)

This happened before on the same device with another update.  I was able to put a temp UTM in place, reload the newest version of the OS, and apply the backup to the 310.  Worked fine.  But device did it again after this most recent update.  It looks like I'll need to rebuild it from scratch (it's been the same software config since v6- updated through the years).  In the meantime, I'd like to get in without reloading it again.

Any ideas?  I have good(?) backups and can build a temp and login.  So it doesn't seem to be the entire thing is hosed.  It's working but I can't manage it so that's a fairly big problem.

If I did get into the console, what would I do to get the GUI login working?

  • Hey Jason.

Well, that's quite a pickle. If you are ever able to reach the console, try restarting Webadmin:

    /etc/init.d/httpd restart

If that doesn't work, maybe a restart of MiddleWare could get things going:

    /etc/init.d/mdw restart

If nothing helps, try checking the logs and see if anything pops out, specially /var/log/httpd.log for WebAdmin and /var/log/system.log, /var/log/fallback.log and /var/log/kernel.log for possible system and hardware issues. Also check /var/log/up2date.log for any errors during the upgrade.

    Regards,

    Giovani

  • This smells like a browser issue to me, Jason.  Next time, try a different browser on a different machine.  I bet clearing the browser cache on your PC would have solved the problem.

  • These command are what I was looking for and hope they work.

    Thanks

  • It's not browsers.  I've tried IE and Chrome on 2 different computers.  No dice.  This firewall profile has been upgraded since v6.  So I'm thinking it's the profile and it's time for a manual rebuild.  Similar thing happened to my UTM a few years ago.  It upgraded but it didn't come back up at all.  Then I discovered all backups going back 2 years were corrupted.  That was a fun rebuild overnight and under pressure.

Originally, it was a software build.  It was migrated to hardware midway through v7 (?)
