Can I setup Multicast to work on a L2TP over IPsec connection

Hello,

I am trying to setup a Sophos SG 115 to exchange multicast-messages between clients in a directly connected network with vpn-clients, that are connected via a L2TP over IPsec connection. Is this possible in any way?

You could do something like use GRE over IPSec, then multicast through GRE.

Hallo Svenn and welcome to the UTM Community!

Amodin was talking about a site-to-site VPN. I don't know of a remote access client that can do GRE, but it would be interesting if there were.

I *think* Cisco has this ability with Easy VPN, but I don't know for sure.

Interesting, but I don't know if the UTM IPsec remote access server can be made to do GRE. Almost 9 years ago, member mircevski proposed a way to do a site-to-site GRE with Cisco and I do have one client using that approach: https://community.sophos.com/utm-firewall/f/vpn-site-to-site-and-remote-access/54755/astaro-to-cisco-gre-tunnel. The last post in the thread is by da_merlin (Ulrich Weber) who was the original developer behind UTM (then, Astaro ASG) IPsec using StrongSWAN. You might also find ideas on the https://strongswan.org/ site.
