Unable to parse mail in spool?

Since my last update 9.04, any mail I have that is stuck in the mail spool won't parse. I get a popup saying "unable to parse" which makes it harder to diagnose why the mail is there eg connection refused, greylisted etc

Is anybody else having this issue?

  • Hi Zaphod,

what does that command actually do? Sounds like it rebuilds the database but what effect/side effects does it have?

  • it rebuilds the internal database used by the UTM.

Maybe you lost some log information... dont know exactly.. need to ask a sophos staff member or a mod here for more infos..

it helps to fix my problem similar to yours and all runs fine now..

  • Hi Zaphod,

I went to do this and it warned that I would lose all log information etc which we couldn't afford to do.

I then adjusted the time retention limit for the database logs (in the GUI from 3 to 4 days) and restarted the smtp service in the GUI and then it worked fine.

    Back to normal.

  • hi louis,

seems you find another way to fix this faulty with gui :-)

  • Very creative, Louis!  You are the first one to suggest this approach to repairing an individual PostgreSQL database.  To my knowledge, even Sophos Support is unaware of this.  Thanks for sharing your result!

  • I'm not sure that is indeed a fix but it sorted my issue. Maybe it was just a fluke or a one off.
