[WARN-129] Spam Filter cannot query database servers

Hello and good morning.

I am running Sophos 9 UTM Free Home Version.

The last couple of weeks, I have been receiving admin emails indicating the spam filter daemon is unable to reach the database server via http.

This device is in bridge mode behind my firewall and should have direct access to the internet.

All devices on my lan have unfiltered access OUT to the internet.

What could be the reason for me receiving this error?

Is sophos needing an INBOUND port open for something?

  • I see the same thing,

it starts working again after a while or rebooting.

I've seen strange behavior like this over the years and have rebooted, reimaged and restored the config,

and stupid as is sounds, changed the DNS from cox 68.105.28.17 to cox 68.12.16.25 or google 8.8.4.4, and rename the definition of each for example

to 1..Cox68.12.16.25 and 2..Google8.8.4.4 and 3..Cox68.105.28.17 and it forces the sophos/astaro to resort it in alphabetic order and weird dns problems go away.

    who knows why.

Hope one of those suggestions helps until they fix it, i did also start seeing it in 9.4xx i believe but could have been back to 9.35x

i forget and haven't had an afternoon coffee.

    Good luck my friend.
