Spam e-mails

We have enabled SMPT Proxy in our UTM SG 430 firmware 9.4 but we are still receiving some SPAM e-mails. The antispam on the UTM is configured mostly with default options, any idea what could we add to the default config for antispam so that we could get a better protection from those obvious SPAM e-mails.

Maybe adding Extra RBL would help, if so what would be the list of those RBLs to add?

Thanks.

  • Often, people incorrectly consider emails that they inadvertently signed up for as spam.  Sometimes it's a list you agreed to be on, and that list is being sold to multiple senders.  You can likely opt-out of the vast majority of such emails.  Usually, you need to unsubscribe both from the specific sender and from the list - usually different entities.

  • Hi Burim,

    Greetings.

I request you to re-check you Email Protection configuration from this link :

    https://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/119278.aspx

I suggest you to use 'Advance Anti Spam' options which can be found in Email Protection > Anti Spam.

Adding extra RBL can also help, we can provide you country based RBL lists.

    Hope that helps:)

  • Thank you all for your replies.

I don't think this is a configuration problem because at the end there is not much options you can play around for Antispam in Sophos UTM. Sophos Mail Appliacne offers a much better protection since it has a lot more options for Antispam. Not sure why Sophos did not add more to UTM Antispam, at least half of the options offered in Mail Appliance would help.

I will try adding the RBL list you guys posted and see what happens in the next days.

    Thank you.
