Can't send email - All else works fine

Serious motherboard, processor & memory. Swappable HDD with pfSense on one and Sophos UTM Home on the other. pfSense works fine, so it was used as the model for setting up the Sophos version. This includes 4 desktops, 3 printers, Ooma, Roku, IP camera, a weather station, and wifi to laptop & Kindle, all through a Cisco SG300-20 switch.

Everything works fine on the Sophos system except I can't send emails. Incoming emails operate perfectly. With WireShark I see the initial TCP trio (SYN, SYN/ACK, ACK) but unlike the pfSense traffic, nothing follows. The email server is GoDaddy's using port 80 with smtpout.secureserver.net .

I've tried numerous configuration changes without success. I am not properly trained or experienced to go forward intelligently, so outside advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Make sure you have a FW rule Internal (network) --> email messaging --> any with SMTP SSL included part of the email messaging service.  I have GoDaddy and using smtpout.secureserver.net, which used port 465 (SMTP SSL)

    I appreciate all of the suggestions offered. Before the last two replies arrived, I exhausted my enthusiasm. I gave up. I was suspicious about port 80 from the start, but confirmed it in GoDaddy communiques.

    I respect the contributions that Sophos makes to computer security, esp Naked Security & the Virus Removal Tool. I also believe that I would have a solution to this SMTP problem if I had more talent.

    My desire, from the beginning of this effort, was to create a triad of alternatives for the front end of our home network. I have a NetGear FVS336Gv2 which can sit at the network's front end. I wanted the possibility of having a box running pfSense or Sophos UTM Home, depending on which HDD was installed at start-up. I would protect my network with 1 of these 3 options at any particular time. At this point I have switched that third role to Untangle, and it supports my premise of simply swapping 2 E-net cables (WAN & LAN) without any changes to the configuration of the hosts connected to the network.

    When my talent improves, I hope to return to this effort, as I highly respect the offerings of Sophos.
