Send SMTP traffic through interface with static IP.

Hi all,

I have 2 Internet lines one with dynamic IP and the other with static IP, and I have Exchange Server and I want to send through Sophos UTM.

When sending SMTP from Exchange, the UTM sends this traffic through the interface with dynamic IP?

Is there any way to command the UTM to send throught the other interface?

And one more thing, can I resend the bounced emails that kept in the UTM?

Hi,

You can use an SNAT to configure the outgoing IP for the Exchange server.

Check the mail queue manager or whatever it's called for your bounces.

In Exchange Server i put the UTM as Smart Host, so the emails will go to the UTM then should send them to the internet.

I don't want the Exchange to send them directrly.

So, is there a way to tell the UTM to send them through the other interface?

I guess that you have Uplink Balancing enabled ?

In that case you should create Multipah Rule [by Interface]:
Any → SMTP → Internet IPv4 → WAN1

Uncheck "Skip rule on interface error" option (if you don't want do deliver mail through the dynamic IP interface in the case that static interface is down, e-mail will stay in the queue on UTM until the interface is up again)

Screenshot from production environment similar to your scenario.

Two Internet links, one (SBB) fast and cheap (preferred for web surfing), another one (Telekom) slow and expensive but very reliable (for Exchange in/out e-mail and as a failover to SBB).

Uplink balancing configured as Active/Active.
