This seems really weird to me. Just started happening recently. I have an ASG 220 running UTM 9.0005-16, with an Exchange Server 2007 behind it. I receive email for my currently active domain, plus 2 historical domains. The Exchange Server is authoritative for all 3 domains, the SMTP Profile for all three domains on the ASG is the same.
However, recently I stopped receiving email for olddomain2.com except email sent to postmaster@olddomain2.com I still receive email for newdomain.com and for olddomain1.com. The problem only exists for olddomain2.
The sender receives an NDR with code 421 Unexpected Error.
Since it is for an old domain it is not monitored closely so I am not sure exactly when this started. I recently upgraded from V8 to UTM 9, added a second external interface and turned on uplink balancing, requiring me to change DNS forwarders to public DNS servers.
When I look at the Mail Manager SMTP log, I see nothing for the failed emails. I only see a listing for the mail sent to postmaster. Postmaster@olddomain2.com and me@olddomain2.com are just aliases to mymailbox@newdomain.com so why would I receive one but not the other?
