9.004-34 Mail Processing Time

I have a test lab setup and I'm concerned about the incoming mail processing time.  From the time I see an incoming message hit the Live Monitoring to the time it hits my Inbox is consistently 5 to 6 minutes.  That isn't normal, is it?  If I bypass the Email Protection, then incoming is almost instant.  Outgoing email with or without Email Protection is almost instant, and I have scanning external email on as well.  I tried changing the A/V scanning from dual to single, but that didn't help.  I am using Exchange 2013 as the mail server.

Any ideas what I may have configured incorrectly or where I can start looking?

  • If you're sending from a service like Gmail, they have many, many sending IPs.  I usually don't configure Email Protection with greylisting enabled.  The other tests reject at SMTP time, and all mails are handled immediately.
