Strange, Patrick, it looks like you're getting the encrypted message you sent.  Does your correspondent receive an encrypted message?  What does Sophos Support say about this?

correspondent received the encrypted e-mail without issue except for the sender coming from the smarthost credential instead of do-not-reply@fw-notify.net.  This is a home license, so I'm not sure if Sophos Support would take the case.

I don't think that's relevant, Patrick.  The content of the email is the issue.

If you Edit the SPX Template, what do you see in 'Recipient Instructions' - is it the following?

<b>Encrypted email message from %%HEADER_FROM_SANITIZED%%</b>

Try both your suggestion didn't help, so I thought uncheck the use of smarthost and noticed this on the SMTP live log

smtp.secureserver.net [68.178.213.203] : 25 connection timed out

not the same issue.  I do get alert only if I used smarthost.except the sender is the smarthost gmail account instead of do-not-reply@fw-notify.net.  Not a big deal.  Just puzzled me
