UTM updated but previous version is still visible in available firmware to install

Hello,

I had 9.412-2 and 9.413-4 firmware versions ready for install. I "Updated to the latest version". The installation process was performed successfully. Now I see that 9.413-4 is the current firmware BUT 9.412-2 is ready to install (????)

Some screenshot here:

My first thought was that I had to manually force an up2date check, but it didn't solve the issue. Is it a known problem?

Thanks

  • Mmh, that should not be normal behavior. I updated an appliance today from 12 to 13 as well as 11 to 13 and both installations went fine.

What kind/type of Appliance do you have, hardware (model?), software, virtual?

  • Hey eclipse79.

This kinda happens from time to time. Probably the cleanup process after upgrading was not successful and some files were left behind. You can SSH into the UTM and remove everything from /var/up2date/sys/ and /var/up2date/sys-install/. This should clear that notification.

Let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

  • The solution was to remove the content of these folders. Why happens that? I remember that when I bought this new appliance, I had a similar issue on first run. The unit came with a very old firmware version, it downloaded lots of updates but I could not update to latest version, but only to one that was 10-15 versions older. So, in that case, I installed latest firmware from bootable cd.

    Thanks!

  • Can't say. I updated a batch of UTMs this weekend and at least 3 of them presented this behavior. I guess the best I can give you  is that automated processes sometimes fails. Maybe just to keep us on our toes.
