Utm 9 home edition setup

Hi Guys

I am new to UTM's and trying to learn. I have installed UTM 9 on vmware workstation. Please guide me for network adapter settings. I've tried all the settings bt none of one worked for me. if i setup two network interfaces for my vm machine both at bridged mode then only I get access to Utm web admin page otherwise I get the same ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED error in chrome while accessing the UTM web admin page. If somehow I am able to access web admin page then it works only for internal network as the both adapters are in bridged mode so both are in the same subnet  so it become useless to use utm as I want to try web filtering features so that I can block some content at my home.

    Hi, Karan, and welcome to the UTM Community!

    There is a problem with some versions of Chrome and UTM versions before 9.413, but you also have a routing problem.  See #3.1 in Rulz.

    how can i set masquerading rule for the newly added interface ? And how can I practically see whether my web filtering things is working or not ? Like i have created 2 VM's one is running windows 8 and other is running utm9 ? how can i access internet on Vm running windows so that i can get block message by utm ?

    I'm afraid I can't "see" your setup, Karan.  Here's a simple diagram of what I would expect to find:

    Internet<-->[bridged ISP modem]<--><146.56.66.103[UTM]172.20.1..1><-->LAN

     Please show a similar diagram for your topology.

    In my case I have Lan working on 192.168.0.1-255

    and my wan ip is 10.0.x.x which is shown on my isp modem. Right

    Now, I have created a virtual machine under Vmware. I have added two virtual network interfaces which shows as the below screenshot.

    Then, If I set both interfaces in bridged mode.

    Now, see both the interfaces are on same subnet.

    Now guide me what needs to be done?

    WebAdmin and the Configuration Daemon automatically create routes between the IPs defined on the UTM's interfaces.  In this case, you have created a routing problem because 192.168.0.0/24 is defined on both interfaces. As I said above, see #3.1 in Rulz.

    If your External interface should connect directly to the modem, then it needs a 10.0.x.x IP with the modem's as the default gateway.  As my previous post implies, the preferred topology is to bridge the modem so that the UTM can have a public address on External and there is no double NAT.
