Evaluating UTM 9 - HA NOT working

Hi!

I'm trying to evaluate Sophos UTM 9, in specific with a Active-Passive Scenario on 2 VMWare ESXi 6.5 Machines.

Whatever I do I get this on the slave logs:

"password authentication failed for user repmgr"

I already tried with automatic mode and with Active-Passive Mode.

I'm using a clean install (truth is I already installed it 2 or 3 times).

This is becoming so frustrating.

I already put vnics in promiscuous mode and all the other hints that I could found on these forums...

  • Hi, Filipe, and welcome to the UTM Community!

That may not mean anything other than the programmer left a message that told him the unit was in Standby instead of Cluster mode.  What problem are you having that made you look for something in the log on the Slave?

If you're evaluating this for a possible purchase, you should get in contact with Sophos and get a good reseller in your area.  That will give you access to Sophos pre-sales engineers through the reseller.  Some answers, you can get more quickly here, but don't neglect early contact with Sophos.

    Cheers - Bob

  • We are running a 2 VM instances of UTM 9.4x HA/HA Active/Passive on TWO ESXi 6.0 boxes (one HP one Dell)

It works fine .. you DO need to get your LAN/WAN cabling sorted and clearly label EVERYTHING.

Single biggest one .. get some BASIC SWitches so the VM machines have no DIRECT connection (except the HA LINK) thats a dedicated X over cable

If still interested can detail our setup .. which works fine...
