Reimaging Sophos SG115 rev.2 problems

I have a sophos sg115 rev.2 with Basic guard subscription. I tried to reimage my sophos sg115 with an Image from Sophos Donwload Source https://www.sophos.com/de-de/support/utm-downloads.aspx.

First i downloaded UTM v9 Hardware Appliance 9.406-3.1 ISO and burnded it do disc. When I tried to install from USB-DVD-Drive the message "No appliance Hardware has been detected." appears. Then the Installation stops. I checked the Installation log and there is the following line: "ASG autodetect sg115:r1 (matches 8/9) failed".

For me it seems like the installer doesn`t know ssg115 rev2?!

After that i tried with UTM v9 Hardware Appliance 9.217-3.1 ISO. Same Message but i was able to install the System anyway. After reboot i connected to webadmin and tried to Import my license (subscription Basic guard for sg115) and get error "Cannot use SG115 license on ASG software device"

Can anybody help me, please?

  • Hi,

    How about downloading the firmware from ftp.astaro.com/.../  and later migrating the firmware.

    Thanks

  • Hi sachingurung,

    when i go to ftp.astaro.com, and select UTM and Hardware Appliance  there is a README-File which Points me to  https://www.sophos.com/de-de/support/utm-downloads.aspx....

    Where exactly can I find the firmware?

  • Try the up2date folder,  ftp.astaro.com/UTM/v9/up2date/

  • Hi Sachin Gurung,

    thanks for your reply.

    I have reimaged the sg115 again and have installed the packages from up2date (i hope i have understood your answer :-) ) but i'm still not able to install my license. After that i looked into the installer-log (saved to usb during reimaging before).

    In the log-file are some DMI-Errors during hw-check.

    "trying to read data from DMI

    can't get dmi data

    error in dmi_data"

    and later...

    [netcard]   _Count -> 4                                                                      [1]

    [cpu]         Cache   -> 512kb                                                             [1]

    [cpu]         _Count -> 2                                                                      [1]

    [cpu]         Vendor -> GenuineIntel                                                    [1]

    [cpu]          Model -> Intel (R) Atom (TM) CPU E3827 @ 1,74GHz   [1]

    [disk]         Model -> TS64GSSD370                                                 [1]

    [dmi_sys]  Version -> 115r2                                                              [0]

    and later ...

    "ASG autodetect SG115:r1 (matches: 8/9) failed"

    It seems like UTM installer is not able to detect the appliance because DMI is not working correct. Is it possible, that version-information from bios are erased because of

    utm was powered of an battery is not working correct? I always lost date/time when sg is plugged off.

  • Hi,

    I am not sure if that can occur due to a power off. I think you need to get this reported to the customer service team who looks after licensing. May be they know if there is a problem in SG Rev2 appliances. Please contact customercare@sophos.com .

    Thanks
