High Availability (A/P) with two Internet Links

Hi,

We are using internet link from two different ISPs to have redundancy. Both links are terminated in UTM through a single cable running from each ISP provided device.

Now we are adding another UTM for HA (A/P) but as only single cable is running from each ISP device, we are unable to use second UTM.

My question is whether we should ask ISP to change his device (from single port to two ports) or we should add a switch between ISP device and UTM.

In case switch is required, do we need separate switch for each ISP link ?

Please advise.

Thanks

  • Hi,

Your question has the answer within.

You need to deploy a  separate switch for ISP. PFA screenshot:

    Hope that helps:)

Do I need two switches (separate for each ISP) or I can use one switch and terminate both Links in this switch and the connect switch with UTM?

    WAN1 --------  Switch 1-------------- Sophos UTM1  & UTM2

    WAN2 --------- Switch  2--------------- Sophos UTM1 & UTM2

    OR

    WAN1  & WAN 2 ----------  Single Switch-------------- Sophos UTM1 & UTM2

    Thanks
