[8.202][SWAP] increasing

Here is my rocky ride..[:O].. I have everything enabled as well.  I'm sitting at 8% swap after 8 days.  See my signature for system details.

While yes, you are correct 8% is not significant, but on systems that even during the early beta did not show swap usage a slowly increasing swap might indicate a potential problem.

My system is now 3% and growing about 1% a day.

Might have a found a problem. The support tool shows many, as in more than 20
 \_[iplocator.plx] defunct running

and 9 \_/bin/sockd -D running

I have found swap space to increase by 1% per day using 8.202. My uptime is currently 23 days and swap is at 21%. Since day 3, the swap number has increased by 1% per day, while the memory usage has remained constant.

I had the problem of swap usage increasing and slowing down ASG to a crawl ever since I upgraded to 8.2. I was running with 2GB RAM. 

To permanently fix the problem, I added 4GB RAM to increase the total RAM to 6GB. It has been 8 days 16h 17m since the firewall is up with swap staying happily at 0%. The peak memory usage has been 33%, close to 2GB.

You can also see swap jump sharply if the Web Proxy crashes.

There does not seem to be anything sharp about the increases I have been seeing. I was waiting to see if the trend continued, but with the thread already started, I figured I would add my experience with this issue. I think the graph does a nice job showing the issue.

try my vm.swappiness=0 trick.  On my 2 gig systems swap stops at less than .5 percent.

8% is not significant.

If it was stable, you're correct.  But it will keep going until the system performance is affected, then I have to reboot.

In answer to Bob's questions?

My system is using IPv4 and IPv6. The IPv6 is via tunnel broker.
