performance issues on vmware

Hello,

I'm currently running a Sophos UTM Home 9.605-1 as a VM on a ESX 6.5 Host and I'm experiencing reduced throughput on the internet up. I've made sure that I use the VMXNET3 type on all the virtual network cards. I've made 2 speed tests one from a client in the network and one from a Client directly attached to the modem and I always see the same difference:

any Ideas what this can be?

Just out of interest, what about the CPU usage of the VM?

Did you try and turned off IPS?

Hi Alex,

I ran the speed test again. This is the CPU graph from that moment:

Nevertheless I've tried to turn off IPS but it didn't change anything.

Hi Marco,

this is the graph from the UTM. Could you check the graph of the VM (at ESX level)? Scale should be realtime.
And what CPU do you use?

Additionally did you trying another speedtest? Maybe the gap isn’t so big.

that can't be the issue. I've disabled IPS and Network Visibility and still the throughput is poor

I have a loss of over 50% on upstream. You want to tell me that with this hardware no better performance is possible?

I've found the Problem... In the QoS Settings were old settings.
