Is the 50 ip limit contemporary?

Hallo,

ganz sicher, ihr Partner hat ihnen gesagt, dass Sie als Privatperson keine "echte" Lizenz kaufen können?

Davon habe ich noch nichts gehört. (Aber den meisten Privatnutzern reichen auch die 50 IP's)

Gern kann ich das noch mal prüfen (lassen).

die Hotline hat mich an ito verwiesen.
Der Telefonkontakt war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, wies aber darauf hin das sie nur für B2B zuständig wären.
Darüber hinaus sind für mich als Privatnutzer die Summen für 100 IPs in der genannten
Größenordnung trotz allem nicht finanzierbar.

Wenn Sie mehr als die 50 IP-Adressbeschränkung benötigen, dann können Sie die neuere Version der Software laden, die keine IP-Beschränkung hat, aber eine Hardware-Beschränkung hat.

(Sorry, wenn mein Deutsch schlecht ist, ist es eine lange Zeit her, seit ich es benutzt habe).

Habe danach hier in der Community danach gesucht, und werde das nun versuchen.

Ich bin noch nicht dazu gegangen, weil ich denke, es ist immer noch ein bisschen glanzlos.  Es kann jedoch immer noch das meiste von dem, was UTM kann und tut.  Es ist völlig anders und Sie sollten die beiden vergleichen, bevor Sie es in Ihrer Umgebung setzen.

Ja, ich habe mir eine VM-Version installiert und gucke jetzt mal in Ruhe.
Ich finde die Oberfläche schick und modern, nur ist man von der UTM
natürlich deutlich andere Menüführungen gewohnt.

die XG zu testen lohnt sich.

Es gibt aber etliche liebgewonnene Features, welche XG noch nicht hat. Einiges ist anders zu handhaben.

Im Zweifel einfach hier fragen.

(Like Amodin, it's been a long time since I lived and worked in Germany, so it takes a day for me to start thinking in German again.  I'll continue in English since you clearly are comfortable reading it just as I am comfortable reading German.)

Your IoT devices are not protected in any way by the UTM, so I don't think it's cheating to "hide" them behind a cheap router so that the UTM only sees the IP of the router.  If you were a business, I wouldn't make that same comment.

first of all, thanks a lot for your answer.
As an UTM Architect you may be ablte to answer some of my questions :-)
The second restriction of the licence agreement is 30000 connection, which will never ever be problem in my case.
Will the UTM only count layer 2 devices from arp table?

In this case I could setup a second ospf router with static
firewall and attach my iot, wifi, and dmz network behind this router.

I really don't like nat/pat boxes.

Only IPs are counted, not MACs.  You can see how many you have with:

count_active_ip.plx --showcount

An IP is "active" for seven days after it was last seen.
